What can I expect at a Contemporary Service?
Our worship service at 11:00 a.m. is lively and conversational. The praise band and worship team leads an extended opening praise time that consists of contemporary choruses and songs. Great hymns of the church are frequently blended into our musical mix, and Holy Communion is celebrated approximately twice per month.
What can I expect at a Traditional Service?
The 8:30 a.m. service is a celebration that uses the great hymns and liturgy of the church. Classical orchestral instruments are used on occasion to enhance and support our musical texture, and formal processions and fanfares occur on Festival Sundays. Holy Communion is celebrated approximately twice per month.
Our traditional service allows ample time for joyous praise, personal reflection, prayer, confession, and forgiveness of sin. The Good News of the Gospel is presented each week through a combination of special music, testimony, and preaching.
"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care." Psalm 95:6-7
Communion is generally served on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of each month. Communion is also served for special holidays like Christmas Day and Easter.
Yes, I am a sinner in need of Jesus' forgiveness. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Yes, I am baptized in His name. Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ of the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Yes, I recognize Jesus' real presence in the bread and wine. 1 Corinthians 10:16 "Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the bloom of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?"
Yes, I trust Jesus' promise to forgive my sins as I receive His Supper. Matthew 26:26-28 "While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
Yes, I receive His power to re-align my life. John 8:11 ...Then neither do I condemn you, Jesus declared. Go now and leave your life of sin.
What Do I Do?
If you believe the statements above when it is time for the Lord's Supper the usher will direct you to the altar where the communion assistant will offer the bread, saying something like, "Take and eat the body of Christ, broken for you." You take and eat it recalling what Christ has done for you. Then you will be offered the wine. The communion assistant will say something like, "Take and drink the blood of Christ, shed for the forgiveness of your sins." You may either drink from the common cup or from the little individual cups, recalling what Christ has done for you. If you drink from the little individual cups you will notice that there is either white grape juice offered or red wine offered. If you drink from the little individual cup you then dispose of it in the nearest basket.
Communion Instruction of Kids
You may bring your child up for communion where the communion assistant may say a blessing over your child.
Worship can transform your life… forever!
Worship. It isn't an entertaining showcase for a talented soprano or a lecture that confuses or a pleasant weekly reunion of friends and family. Instead, true worship is a joyous celebration of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And, as we actively turn our hearts toward God in earnest praise of His great works, He in turn speaks to us and blesses us with His healing and renewing touch.
Worship at Our Savior is God-honoring, Christ-centered, and Word and Sacrament based. A variety of styles, expressions of praise, and forms of communication are used as we rejoice in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Children are always welcome in our worship services, but if you'd like to take advantage of our nursery, Our Nursery is available during our worship services for newborns through 5 years old. Please arrive a few minutes early to “check-in” your child. In the event your child needs attention during the service, the nursery staff will contact you.
